Raised-Relief Maps

Relief maps show contours and elevations. They can be shaded to produce the illusion of three dimensions, or they can actually be made three dimensional by an impression process. Such maps can be made from rubber, vinyl, or plastic. Plastic maps usually have great detail, but the softer rubber and vinyl maps last longer and tend to be more suitable for use by large groups.
